About

Laser Tattoo Removal uses short, high-intensity pulses to fragment pigment without cutting the skin. Different wavelengths are selected for different colors, and spacing between visits allows the lymphatic system to carry away the shattered particles. Professional tattoos generally require more sessions than amateur ink.

Pre-Care
Sun Exposure & Tanning

Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanning products for at least 2 weeks before and after treatment (preferably 4 weeks). Sun exposure reduces treatment effectiveness and increases the risk of complications.

Skin Preparation

Arrive with clean skin. The treatment area must be completely free of lotion, moisturizer, makeup, sunscreen, bronzers, or self-tanners on the day of treatment.

Medications & Photosensitivity

Discontinue Isotretinoin (Accutane) and any photosensitizing medications for at least 6 months prior and do not use during the treatment course.

Hair Removal & Skin Integrity

Avoid waxing and chemical depilatories in the treatment area for at least 2 weeks before and after treatment. Shaving is allowed prior to treatment if needed.

Medical Conditions

You must not be pregnant. Inform Platinum Medical Spa if you have a history of keloids, poor wound healing, diabetes, autoimmune disease, chemotherapy/radiation, or any relevant medical condition. Notify us of any changes in your medical history during your treatment course.

General Preparation

Ensure no active tan is present. Follow all instructions provided by Platinum Medical Spa prior to treatment.

Laser Tattoo Removal
Multicolor Precision

Color-specific wavelengths tackle a broad spectrum of inks.

Skin-Safe Approach

No incisions; the surrounding skin is left intact.

Progressive Fading

Each session lightens the tattoo further until your goal is reached.

Cover-Up Prep

Partial fading creates a better canvas for new art.

Fade-by-Fade Clearing

After cleansing and eye protection, pulses feel like quick rubber-band snaps with warmth. Sessions last 5–20 minutes depending on size. Most tattoos need 6–10+ sessions, typically spaced 6–8 weeks apart.

Post Care
Immediate Aftercare & Expected Response

Immediately after treatment, “frosting,” redness, swelling, pinpoint bleeding, or mild discomfort may occur. Redness may last from 2 hours up to 10 days. Blistering, scabbing, itching, or light bleeding may occur and are normal responses.

Pain Management & Initial Care

Apply cold compresses and keep the area elevated for the first 24 hours. Use Acetaminophen (Tylenol) for discomfort. Avoid Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Naproxen, and NSAIDs as they may slow healing.

Wound Care & Dressings

Clean the area daily by allowing water to run gently over it, then pat dry. Apply Aquaphor 2–3 times daily or antibiotic ointments such as Fucidin or Polysporin, and cover with a non-stick Telfa gauze dressing, changing daily. Keep the area moist and protected until healed.

Healing Process & Restrictions

Do NOT pick, peel, rub, scratch, or pop blisters. Allow scabs and blisters to resolve naturally. Avoid shaving the area until fully healed (5–10 days). Keep the area clean and dry and avoid high-pressure water. Avoid trauma to the area for at least 7 days.

Activities & Environmental Exposure

Avoid physical exercise, sweating, hot showers, saunas, hot tubs, pools, and salt water for at least 24 hours to 1–2 weeks, or until healing is complete.

Sun Protection, Results & Warning Signs

Avoid sun exposure during healing. Once healed, apply SPF 30+ with zinc oxide daily and reapply every 2 hours. Not all tattoos will fully clear; fading varies depending on ink, skin type, and other factors. Contact Platinum Medical Spa immediately if signs of infection occur (increased redness, tenderness, pus, or worsening symptoms).
