PDO Threads
Book NowA PDO (polydioxanone) thread lift is a minimally invasive procedure that uses dissolvable sutures to lift and tighten sagging skin, stimulating collagen and elastin for natural-looking rejuvenation. Each session typically takes 15–30 minutes, often under local anesthesia, and most patients undergo 1–3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart for optimal lift and collagen stimulation. Visible improvements appear immediately, with progressive refinement over 3–6 months and results lasting 12–18 months on average

If advised, discontinue blood-thinning medications and supplements at least 7 days prior unless prescribed. This includes Aspirin, Ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil), Aleve (Naproxen), Warfarin (consult first), Vitamin E, fish oil, krill oil, cod liver oil, flax oil, Ginkgo Biloba, turmeric, garlic, chili, ginseng, ginger, green tea, and essential fatty acids. If pain relief is needed, use Acetaminophen (Tylenol). Do not stop prescribed anticoagulants without medical approval.
Avoid alcohol, smoking, and strenuous exercise at least 24 hours to 1 week prior to improve healing and reduce bruising risk.
Inform Platinum Medical Spa if you have a history of cold sores (HSV); antiviral medication may be required. Ensure allergies, sinusitis, or any illness are well controlled before treatment.
Discontinue tretinoin, retinol, and exfoliating products at least 48 hours prior to reduce irritation. Avoid applying makeup or skincare products on the day of treatment.
To minimize bruising, optional supplements may include Arnica, Bromelain, or natural sources such as pineapple and papaya.
Arrive with a clean face and inform Platinum Medical Spa of all medications and supplements. Follow all instructions provided prior to treatment.
Resume normal activities immediately; most return to work the same day.
Local anesthesia minimizes discomfort; many describe only mild pulling or tingling during insertion.
Thread type (mono, cog, screw), number, and vector are tailored to your anatomy and goals.
Collagen scaffold endures 12–18 months, with some patients maintaining improvement up to 24 months.
The procedure begins with a detailed consultation to assess facial anatomy and determine the right threads for your goals—lifting threads for structure or smooth threads for collagen. After applying local anesthesia, tiny entry points are marked, and threads are carefully inserted beneath the skin using fine cannulas. Once positioned, the threads are gently pulled to lift and reposition sagging areas, with excess thread trimmed. Over the following weeks, your skin naturally produces collagen and elastin around the threads, enhancing firmness and texture.
Tenderness, pulling sensation, stinging, and discomfort are normal and may last 1–4 weeks. Swelling may worsen within the first 24–48 hours and resolve within 2 weeks. Bruising may occur and appear after a few days. Cold compresses (15 minutes every hour) may help reduce swelling.
Use Acetaminophen (Tylenol) for discomfort. Avoid anti-inflammatory medications (Aspirin, Ibuprofen, NSAIDs) for at least 24 hours as they may increase bruising. Avoid supplements affecting clotting for 7 days post-treatment.
Sleep on your back with your head elevated for 3–4 days (or first nights). Avoid lying on the face and avoid pressure on treated areas.
Avoid excessive facial expressions for 2 weeks, including wide mouth opening (especially for jowls), excessive smiling (cheeks), chewing gum, or pulling down on the face for up to 4 weeks. Avoid dental work unless necessary.
Avoid touching the area for at least 30 minutes and avoid makeup for 12–24 hours. Cleanse gently and avoid scrubbing. Keep the area clean for 48 hours (use clean towels, sanitize phone). Apply skincare in a gentle tapping or upward motion. Use antibiotic ointment and/or bandage on entry points for the first 24 hours.
Avoid heavy exercise for 7–14 days and high-impact activity. Avoid facials or massage for 10–14 days. Avoid heat (saunas, hot environments), IPL, radiofrequency, ultrasound, and deep laser treatments for 4–10 weeks depending on modality. Avoid sun exposure initially.
